In the fall of 1969, a rumor started in the US that Paul McCartney had been killed in a car accident three years earlier and replaced by a lookalike. The evidence for this was clues that the Beatles had apparently left on their album covers and in songs, some of them found through playing the songs backwards. It was a big rumor for a few weeks, being covered on radio stations, in magazines, and even on the news, but quickly died down, becoming something Beatle fans may talk about from time to time, but not at all taken seriously. However what many people don’t know is that decades later, it has become the subject of one of the Internet’s deepest and darkest rabbit holes, connecting to many other conspiracies, some much bigger than the Beatles. Through this blog, we’re going to be exploring the Paul Is Dead conspiracy, or PID as it’s often known, and analyzing it’s origins and supposed evidence. We’ll also do the same for some other Beatle related mysteries, and hope we can get close to the truth. If that sounds interesting, be prepared to take a trip down the rabbit hole, and be prepared to see the Beatles, and even the world, in a whole new light.
